How To...

1. Be a server
2. Be an asshole (get kicked)
3. Be an op
4. Be a leech (download files)

Be a server:
Mp3-Punk appreciates all of its servers. They are rewarded with dump access, and maybe eventually ops. However, if you're on dialup, dont bother. Get a real connection. Becoming a server is fairly simple. Download a script from the scripts page, and read the help file. It will explain how to set up the script. Just remember to put all your ads on a timer that is at LEAST 10 minutes. (600sec)

Be an asshole:
The following things will get you kicked.
- Flooding
- Repeating
- Spamming/Advertising your channel, a ratio ftp, or website without free punk mp3s.
- Harrassment
- Excess use of capitals. SO DONT TYPE EVERYTHING TO THE CHANNEL LIKE THIS... OKAY? JAJAJAJAJA
- Asking really stupid questions (ie. Does anyone know where to find some killer gansta rap?)
- Telling Bridget to do nasty things on her webcam

Be an op:
Asking for ops is a very very very bad idea. Dont come to us, we'll come to you. Serve, talk, be patient.... oh ya, dont ask for ops.

Be a leech:
So you wanna download from #mp3-punk eh? Well its pretty simple really, but if you're new to this (or just a rubberhead) this simple guide will help you find the punk rock you want.
First off, you'll need mIRC to join #mp3-punk. You can get that
here. Once you download it, install it and run it. You'll have to fill out a few options (Full name, email, nickname and alternative nickname) and its recommended you turn on your identd. Go to Connect > Identd and check the box beside Enable Identd Server. Then fill in the User ID, System, and set the port to 113. Once you're all setup, hit okay, and type

/server irc.rizon.net

and hit enter. Once mIRC connects to the server, type

/join #mp3-punk

and hit enter.
Now you can leech. You'll notice many colourful ads flying through the channel, all giving information on how to access mp3s. You can also type

!list

to get a list of fserve triggers and list triggers.

Fserves
Fserves are activated by typing a trigger. You'll see ads saying "Type blah blah blah to access my fserve." When you see an fserve trigger, type it to the channel. The owner of the fserve will attempt a chat session with you. Accept it! The following is a list of commands that will help you navigate an fserve. (Its a lot like DOS)

DIR to get a list. Everything in CAPITALS is a directory, everything in small letters is a file.
CD directoryname Goes to that directory. Type DIR again to get a list of that directory.
CD .. Backs out of a directory
GET exactfilename.mp3 To download a file
SENDS To see a servers active sends
QUES To see the que lineup

Autosends
Autosends are easier for getting single files. You can wait for list triggers (usually @Nick or @Nick-list) or you can type

@locator songname

If one of our servers has the song, it will return the results. ie.

-Grump- <> First songname.mp3 <> Second songname.mp3 <> Third songname.mp3 <>
Type !Grump filename.ext to get a file.

Once you get results, you'll also get instructions on how to download one of the results (as shown above.) If you want First songname.mp3, you'd type

!Grump First songname.mp3

to request the file. The server will either send it, or put it in queue. A queue system is basically a lineup for files, be patient, you'll get it eventually.

XDCC
XDCC servers a great for getting full albums. Wait for an XDCC trigger (or type !list). (XDCC triggers look like this... /ctcp NICKNAME xdcc list) Type that, and it will send you a list with a number beside each file.

ie...
-Punk- ** 3 packs ** 1 of 1 slot open
-Punk- ** Bandwidth Usage ** Current: 0.0KB/s
-Punk- #1 2x [ 54M] Some_Band.zip
-Punk- #2 5x [ 47M] Some_Other_Band.rar
-Punk- #3 6x [ 79M] Yup.tar

Type

/ctcp NICKNAME xdcc send #1

to receive the file.

FTP
FTP ads consist of a host or an IP, a port, and a user name and password. Get an ftp client (such as CuteFTP) or type ftp://user:pass@host:port in to your browser. You can figure it out from there.
